Natalie Carter · Food, Mind & Behaviour

Life in the middle lane.

Looking after yourself without making your weight your whole life.

You can want to lose weight, get fitter or feel better without putting your life on hold until your body changes.

You do not need to be a certain size to live your life now.

Does this sound familiar?

You already know about protein, steps and drinking more water. That is not the bit you are stuck on.

01

Food and weight take up far more of your headspace than you want them to.

02

You swing between being very strict and feeling completely out of control around food.

03

You can follow something for a while, but the minute life happens, it all starts to fall apart.

04

You keep waiting to lose weight before you wear the clothes, take the photograph or feel confident again.

Looking after yourself in real life.

We focus on adding more nourishment, water, movement, strength, rest, joy and life. Choose one or two realistic priorities, use the daily prompts, notice what helped, then begin again without waiting for Monday.

Daily Boost keeps my guidance, encouragement, eating-psychology insights, the practical choices I make in my own life and simple ideas easy to find. Community Chat is there if you want conversation and encouragement from other women. Use both, or quietly follow Daily Boost only.

Come in where we are. There is nothing to catch up on.

Whatever your goal, you are welcome. You may want to feel better, lose weight, be kinder to yourself, build a realistic routine, improve your fitness, move more or enjoy your life at your current weight without food and body size consuming you. You may be using a GLP-1 medication. You do not need to hide or defend any of it.

I am not here to give you rigid rules or tell you there is one correct way. I will encourage you to experiment, get curious and look at your life through a different lens.

Life in the middle lane

There is another way between the extremes.

Women are repeatedly pushed towards extremes. Weight loss and becoming smaller can consume your thoughts, even when your body changes. At the other end, you may feel you have to give up every wish to change in order to accept yourself.

Life in the middle lane means looking after yourself without making your weight your whole life. You may want to lose weight. You may be taking weight-loss medication. You may want to get stronger or simply look after yourself without spending your life trying to reach or maintain a certain size.

Your smallest size is not automatically where you will feel your happiest or live your fullest life. I am here to help you find a way of looking after yourself that supports your body and still leaves room for the rest of your life.

Your body can be a goal without becoming your whole life.

About Natalie

I know what it is like to start again.

I have lived through decades of struggling with food and weight. I have lost weight, regained it and started again more times than I can count. I know what it is like for food and body thoughts to take up far too much of a life.

I stopped looking only for the next plan and began studying what sits underneath the patterns. I trained in mind-body eating and eating psychology through IPE, studied meditation through the British School of Meditation, and have invested time in nervous-system and polyvagal-informed learning, behaviour change and body image. I am continuing my Psychology with Counselling degree.

My purpose is to bring what I have learned into ordinary language and useful everyday practice.

UNDERSTAND YOUR EATING

Launching Friday 25 September

A six-part guided video programme where I talk you through the psychology behind your eating, your patterns, and your relationship with food, weight and your body — in normal, everyday language you can actually relate to.

This work offers education, reflection, accountability and community support. It is not therapy, medical care, diagnosis or eating-disorder treatment.

Your body can be a goal without becoming your whole life.
